Here's the lineup for Back to the Mat, 2024: 

 

Monday In the Austin area? Start with Monday Morning Community Yoga, live and in-person at the Circle C Community Center in South Austin. Not doable? No sweat! (Unless you want to ;) Just log onto OYM and ease into the week with Lighten Up! from Calm Your Mind, Lift Your Spirits,  bookend your day with AM/PM 20 Minute Practices, or jump right in with 30 Minute Flow.  

 

Tuesday, Live on Zoom The theme is Hatha! Keep it going LIVE with some alignment-based and heart-filled Hatha at 9am Central, or practice Hatha on your time with a hidden gem inside the archived Hatha classes from the last 4 years. Whatever suits your Hatha Tuesday fancy!

 

Wednesday Hump Day theme is strength: Strong Foundations, Gettin' Strong, or simply search strengthening and choose the one that has the, ahem, strongest appeal. 

 

Thursday, Live on Zoom It's time to rock those chakras! Come to LIVE Hatha practice (9am Central) where we'll move and groove in every center. Practicing on your time? No problem! Try a class from Chakra Savvy 7, Into the Heart Chakra Series, or search for the chakra of your choice for some what-you-need TLC. 

 

Friday Happy Friday! This Friday Flow is 30 minutes to get happy as you finish your week. Want more choices? Search the word "happy" in OYM and see how many practices are there to send you into your weekend smiling from ear to ear and head to toe. Not feeling like yoga today? Let the Spotify playlist Feeling Good be the background as you engage in the Yoga of Life. (Follow me on Spotify for all the practice playlists!)

 

Saturday: Get into the Saturday groove with the mental and spiritual practice of mantra! Try this Basic Mantra Practice. Or, if you want to challenge your mantra muscles a little more, and brush up on your posture alignment, try a class from the Anusara series. Want more “series” advice? Tap into emotional intelligence with Brené Brown's Atlas of the Heart.

 

Sunday Nothing says Sunday like Yoga Nidra. Gather all your cushions, blankets, and creature comforts and let Jess guide you through a "yogi sleep" practiceOr dive into some ancient text inspiration with the Bhagavad Gita series. Start at the top, and see if you don't want to keep going!

but it can be so easy to get out of the habit! Work, family, and life all pull us in different directions. But getting your daily strength and stretch on is vital to productivity, creativity, and stress management. 

You understand that variety is the spice of life...

and that includes your yoga practice! When things become rote and mindless they become boring and routine, which is when we lose interest and drop off the mat. Getting back to the mat with long or short classes, challenging or restorative sequences, and alignment-focused or inspirational intentions keeps things fresh and interesting.

You value flexibility and accessibility...

especially when it comes to your yoga! Life is busy, life is full, and life has ups and downs. For consistency on the mat, there must be classes for every phase and season. Whether you need modifications while overcoming illness or injury, or accessing your favorite classes while you're traveling through Tahiti is key, a robust yoga library makes everything possible, like consistent daily yoga.

Yoga may be calming, but it doesn't have to be boring! Whether you're challenging yourself to a vinyasa flow, or chillin with some restorative, practice with Jess is actually fun. She keeps things thoughtful but light-hearted, ready to go deep, but smile as we go.

How it works:

Step One: Register for FREE for Back to the Mat.

Step Two: Receive your Back to the Mat welcome email with all the info and links you need. Decide on the days you'll practice and classes you want to take by either creating your own playlist or going with one that Jess suggests. 

Step Three: Do the yoga! Show up on the mat when you said you would, and notice how you feel.  For added accountability, show up LIVE on Tuesday and Thursday for Hatha on Zoom at 9am Central! Post to the Jess G Yoga Facebook group to get encouragement and give virtual high-fives to others.

Step Four: Celebrate how great you feel, how strong you are, and enjoy that healthy, happy glow that only comes with regular yoga!

Jess folds her 30 years of movement mechanics, 20 years of teaching, and thousands of hours of yoga therapy training and experience into all of her classes.

 

⇒  As a Certified Yoga Therapist she trained for an additional 1,000 hours to receive the most current, proven, and ancient teachings in asana, pranayama, meditation, and mind-body-spirit connection.

 

⇒ As a previous Certified Anusara Yoga teacher, she underwent the most grueling process out there for certifying teachers to teach heart-based alignment yoga.

 

⇒  As a former professional dancer and choreographer she is highly tuned in to how one movement flows into the next with the most efficiency and grace, making her sequencing clear, informative, and fun!
