How are you feeling these days? Are things moving along, or are you feeling kinda stuck or stymied? I feel like every week is one long back-and-forth between these energies. So I’m doing my best to hold onto the “OM” inside like a zip line and just let it ride.
This past weekend I found myself cleaning out files and drawers and getting things in order for no particular reason. Then I remembered something a wise woman said to me at a gathering I was at several years ago. After I told her I was feeling stuck but cleaned out the garage, she said,
“Move the material, and the spirit will follow.”
And just like that I knew what she meant! Energy begets energy, and overcoming inertia in one area can affect the others.
I realized it was happening in the reverse. I know my Life is moving in a certain direction, but I don’t know what that looks like in the material world yet. So what was I doing with the files and drawers? I was preparing the way. Whatever is mine to do next will land, but it will need a tidy place to do so. I’ll tell you this: if it needs a file folder, I’m READY.
In this week’s podcast Episode 53 I talk about this personal environment cleanup behavior and how it relates especially to chakra two, Svadhisthana:
“I believe that chakra two is the perfect place to think about our immediate environment, and the look and feel of it, because one english translation of Svadhisthana is “one’s own abode.” Svadhisthana’s placement of the sacral complex, or the pelvic bowl, indicates that our abode was once the womb of our mother, and now it’s the womb of our life. And the first syllable of the word, svad, means sweetness, or delight. So we can consider the womb of our life and whether it is a delightful, energetic, and sweet place to live.”
This has me thinking about the next New Moon, which is in Pisces. I imagine we can capture the creativity and artistry of Pisces energy, infuse it with our chakra two intentions, and decide how we want our home, room, office, or even inner sanctuary to look and feel. So maybe between now and the New Moon on February 27 you can clear out some junk! Go KonMari™ on yourself and get rid of what doesn’t spark joy, or at least what feels like unnecessary clutter. Maybe this is the perfect time for a little spring cleaning on the inside to prepare the way for spring’s arrival on the outside. Let’s get ready for whatever is coming, inside and out! (You can sign up for the next New Moon Savvy Intentions at www.jessgoulding.com/chakrasavvy.)
And if you want some background music for clearing your environment and blessing it with creativity and artistry, I have a Spotify playlist called Clearing the Shed. (OYM members–you have a full yoga practice with this theme!)
And OF COURSE this is the right time to prepare the way! Before you know it, Spring will be upon us! I’m already seeing the beginnings of bluebonnets peeking up from their winter slumber. Soon enough, there will be bright colors of all kinds dotting the landscapes all over the Northern Hemisphere. But those of you closest to the Texas Hill Country know we have it pretty special.
And just to remind you, time is running out to sign up for EMERGE Women’s Retreat in Wimberley, Saturday, March 1, 10-4. And if you’re looking to make a full weekend out of it, there are some adorable cottages right on the property! They require a two-night stay, and it’s Wimberley Market Days, so you can take full advantage. The cottages are at Acres Wild Retreat.
EMERGE will be the perfect time to check in with your Wisdom and see what’s emerging for you! I’m planning the perfect yoga practice sequence to loosen up tension, shake off the winter slumber, tap into our creative flow, and open our hearts to new beginnings. Then you’ll get to make a personal oracle card with Intuitive Collage, full of the colors and visions that arise during practice! Finally, a lovely and restorative yoga practice with a sound bath will help you integrate everything, leaving you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready for what’s next! I’m getting SUPER excited about this full day of being with like-hearted women, doing what we do best: laughing and living with intention and joy. Registration ends Sunday, so get in there!
Well, I'm a little long-winded this week, so my apologies! There's just a lot going on out there--and I don't want you to miss a beat. I'll try and keep it short next week ;)
Much love
