Do you think much about the sound of Om? No? Huh.
Well, this week I have been thinking about Om and how truly beautiful and useful it is in creating a moment of harmony in an otherwise discordant world. On this week’s Chakra Savvy™ podcast Episode 48, I’m taking you through a little exercise in resetting your thoughts, mood, attitude, and body. Perhaps not all at once and not once and for all, but it will shift you gently towards feeling better each time you use this practice.
Om is considered the underlying vibration of all creation and existence. As a sound, its resonance can be used like a tuning fork to bring the disparate parts of yourself together. It is your baseline, aligned with your true divine essence. So we can use Om to REMEMBER we are not our thoughts, mood, attitude, or body. We are so much more than that. Om helps get you back to the big picture.
I encourage you to take up some Omming in your regular routine. It's such a simple but profound practice. You will love it, your pets will love it, and if you have any little ones around, they will love it too. It just brings a calm to you and all in your orbit.
If you want, you can add some movement and intention, like I lead you through in this week's podcast episode. Or just pause, sit comfortably, tune into your breath, and chant 12 long Oms. Try it! See how you feel. See if your mood, attitude, thoughts, and even body feel a little better.
We feel better because Om vibrates at a frequency that resonates with the subtle energy centers in our body, aligning and balancing them naturally.
Get the good vibes all the way through!
~ Om is the sound of creation, your body is part of that, as is the earth, water, fire, and air. These are typically the elements of first, second, third, and fourth chakras, and they are the stuff you’re made of too. So you're rebalancing the energetic molecules of chakras one through four.
~ Chakra five, Visuddha, is sound, and Om is the primordial sound and divine symbol that has a purifying effect as you chant from your throat. (Remember–chakra five is the detox chakra.)
~ Chakra six is Ajna, and the seed sound usually associated with Ajna is Om. It is the realm of intuition and thought, so it’s tuning your thoughts to a better vibration.
~ Chakra seven is Sahasrara, where we are beyond thought and into pure consciousness, which is where we connect with and remember our divine essence.
Simple movement, with intention and sound, creates an opportunity to loosen our identification with what’s wrong and foster our connection to what’s perfect, whole, and complete, aka our highest selves!

Much love
