Join me for this Season of Embodiment

One of my favorite things to think, talk, and teach about is embodiment. As a dancer and yogini, I truly believe that our physical bodies play a crucial role in shaping our experiences, perceptions, and understanding of the world around us. There is a tangible interplay between the physical and the mental, and the mind cannot be entirely separated from the body.

So often in life and in yoga we think of moving in an upward and outward direction; that progress goes in the direction of liberation and expansion. But there is an equally beautiful flow in the inward and downward direction, towards the body, towards our root. It’s the way to avoid being “so heavenly focused that we’re no earthly good!”

This season, for the next few months, we will be focusing on embodiment in everything we do. We will be walking, talking, and practicing being embodied, present, and grounded in the here and now. So get out your calendars, because there’s a lot to mark down for next week, next month, and beyond:

Monday, August 28: Season two of Jess on the Mountain podcast kicks off, where all season long we will be looking at each chakra through the lens of embodiment, considering where and how we are physically activated in each chakra, and what it looks and feels like to physically engage with each chakra. I have four fantastic guests lined up to help us embody the divine, forgiveness, our ability to surrender, and our sexuality: A yoga philosophy master, inspiring authors, business women, and a health scientist and women’s wellness expert are bringing their talent and expertise to our mountain journey, helping us understand ourselves better and how we can operate in the world from a place of wisdom and wholeness, creating happier, healthier lives for us and our loved ones. Be sure and subscribe on Apple or Spotify so you are in it from the beginning!

Monday, September 4:  Labor Day in Austin means it’s time for Free Day of Yoga!

I’m very excited to have the beautiful 9am slot at the sprawling Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Greenway. We will do an embodied chakra flow, moving our bodies and minds from the top down. You can come for a class or come for the day. It’s all free! Participating studios all over town are opening their doors, so take advantage. This is a long standing Austin tradition, and it’s going to be a great one this year as well. Register for classes on the Free Day of Yoga Website.

September 11-17: OYM Boot Camp! Back to School means Back to the Mat in my Online Yoga Membership! From September 11-17, get the boost you need to transition from the unstructured days of summer to the regular routine of practicing yoga and meditation, because you know that’s what makes you feel good and show up better in your life. And who could forget the biggest trip of the year?

Get this one booked, as there are only 3 spots left for this 7 night, 8 day trip-of-a-lifetime, which includes naturalist-guided trips to the Charles Darwin station, Bartolome Island, and North Seymour Island. We will enjoy kayaking on Tortuga Bay, snorkeling, swimming, a tour of the highlands (pit craters, lava tunnels, and a cloud forest), yoga classes, nature-inspired accommodations on Santa Cruz Island, and delicious meals. We will swim with sea lions and sharks, spot Galapagos penguins and flamingos, and watch the dance of marine iguanas and blue footed boobies on volcanic rocks. This truly unique UNESCO World Heritage Site offers the perfect melding of yoga and an unblemished example of a wild and natural world.

April 12-14: Spring Women’s Retreat. Finally, be sure and save the date for the next women’s retreat at Retreat Ranch, April 12-14. You can join the waitlist now and be ready to glamp and go!

As you can see, plenty of opportunities to embody the life of a healthy, happy yogi. Hopefully there’s something fun and interesting for you here in these offerings, or at least you enjoy these emails. They are a joy for me to write!

Until then, may you have fun marking your calendar with all the bountiful yoga we have going on this season and next.

I will see you on the mat!
