I'm feeling so inspired today by a student in Monday's class, I just have to share.
We were invajrasana, where you sit on your heels with your legs tucked under. He knew he needed support to create this pose: blocks between his ankles to sit on and a blanket roll supporting his ankles. And yet, it hurt. It was uncomfortable. But, as he told me after class, he embraced the pain. He allowed it to change him as he as able to keep his breath slow and deep. And an emotional release came, along with a physical one as the resistance released. He almost felt like crying, he said. Something was there, and something let go.
And then he felt better.
His ankles and his spirit both felt better by embracing the discomfort and allowing what was beneath the resistance to emerge. (And even better once it was over and he was happily in down dog!)
His story has me thinking: If we just stick with something, even if it's uncomfortable, something will emerge. When we don
