I'm back from beautiful Lake Atitlan, Guatemala and getting settled into my routine again. As I was running errands yesterday, one of the first things I noticed is that some holiday decorations are already going up! Because wow! We're in November! It's time to crack open that yoga tool box and remember all those tricks of the trade that keep us sane throughout the holiday season.
Here are my favorites:
⇨ Alternate nostril breathing. I've been doing this one every day for nearly 90 days in a row, and I gotta say, IT WORKS. The calmness in my mind continues to surprise me as little things just don't get to me. Check out this YouTube video I did a year ago calledYoga for Balance, and try it with me.
⇨Morning Routine. One of the first things to go when we get busy is our routine that keeps us grounded. Treat yourself to thisMorning Glowmorning routine and set yourself up for success! You can even download and print the instructions to tape to your mirror! Download now
⇨Ratio Breathing. If you ever feel like there is more to do than time to do it, take two minutes and sort things out after some ratio breathing. This video,Calm Your Mind in Two Minutes or Less, will guide you.
⇨Check In. One of the best things you can do to keep the calm and not get triggered at the table is a little self check-in. It takes only moments, but can bring you valuable information about the state you're in. That way, you only proceed with tough conversations from a place of balance. Try itHERE.
⇨Get your shopping done early. Starting next week you'll be able to give the gift of yoga to everyone on your list! Or you can hint to someone else about the yoga you want in your life ;)Stay tuned!
So I hope you put in some time and effort for your self care this holiday season. Choose your favorite and start now! You'll already begin accumulating those good vibes that will carry you through.
May you enjoy a happy and calm ending to your unforgettable year.
